I have been involved with music some way or another all of my life. I personally took piano lessons at the age of five all the way through college. My junior and senior year of high school I even taught beginners in piano. Because of my previous music training and my love for music, I decided to have music be one of my majors in college. Throughout my internship at college, I worked with many young teenagers and children, teaching them music and also playing instruments.
After I graduated from college, I moved to Melbourne with my husband. I presently teach at a Christian school in the area. During one of my hours, I help with an elementary music class. The children have fun and seem to pick up things quite quickly. However, it was not until I started teaching with Miss G at Little House of Music that I realized how much the children will actually learn in just a short period of time.
Little House of Music has a great curriculum for teaching kids the basics of music. Not only do the children learn, but also they absolutely have the greatest time in the class with Miss G. She makes music so much fun to learn! I was shocked when I took on a student who recently graduated from the Little House of Music classes and started teaching him private piano lessons. This young boy is only four years old, and he can recognize notes (he knows the names of them too). He also knows how to count the timing, and general music terms. I have only been teaching Dylan for 2 months, and he has almost completed the Primer level of the Glover series! That is an unbelievable fast pace. I truly believe that with the help and work on his mother's part, and of course, all the training from Little House of Music has helped Dylan tremendously to improve and to succeed so quickly.
I believe that every child should have some form of music education in his lifetime. Little House of Music is only two 10-week segments, and the children learn so much in that time period. This program would be a great investment for any parent to make for their children.
My 4-year-old son, Dylan, recently graduated from Little House of Music. I was very impressed that after completing Level 1 and 2 (only 10 weeks each), he was ready to move on to private piano lessons. The Little House of Music classes were a fantastic foundation that prepared him to play the piano.
The Little House of Music classes are so much fun. Miss G has a wonderful rapport with children; she really knows how to boost their self-esteem and make them feel good about learning music. The whole cast of characters in the Little House of Music family (such as Miss Treble Clef, Mr. Bass Clef, and all their note children) make learning fun. The music books contain age-appropriate activities like coloring and dot-to-dots, which the children enjoy doing. I never had to push or remind Dylan to work in his book; he looked forward to it. The audio CD’s are filled with catchy tunes that reinforce the lessons. We still enjoy listening to them in our car!
I definitely recommend Little House of Music to anyone with children who are interested in music.
